Quirky

Do you know what I love? Shops that are different. Shops that are fun and offer up the unexpected. I’m so tired of the same old stuff. That’s why I LOVE Quirk Gallery here in my hometown of Richmond, Virginia. (Or RVA, as we locals call it) Although I have to admit, I didn’t know that it existed until we moved back to town a few years ago. I’m learning so much about my city and its people now. There’s like this whole other side to Richmond that I never knew about it. It’s actually kind of cool. And cool is exactly what Quirk is. Their online shop is full of unique finds. Trust me, if you need to buy a gift for a friend that is hard to buy for, there is no way you will walk out of Quirk, or click on a new page, without a gift in hand. Some of my faves? This Richmond tote is so super cute!

And check out these cork toast coasters! Too cute to pass up and they would totally complete “the look” for your next cocktail gathering.

And this is just an itsy bitsy sampling of what they have in store. Their jewelry collections are killer too. You must must must check them out. I know that I’ll be headed there for future events and birthdays. Way to go Quirk. In a world full of too many big box stores, you are a breath of fresh air. (even if it is 100% humid, nasty, sticky air) RVA loves you!

P.S. This is the first of many more favorite local spot posts to come! This city is chock full of hidden gems. I can’t wait to keep discovering more. Stay tuned.

TGIF!!!….well almost

Happy almost Friday everyone! We made it. Woot! My hubby should be on a plane from Charlotte right now, my baby is asleep in my bed, and I’m eating Lucky Charms, drinking pinot and watching “Sweet Home Alabama”. I know, gross right? Actually, it’s really good. I did eat the cereal before I started with the wine. I love this movie. It’s really so sweet. Anyway, just thought I’d stop by and say hi. Anybody have big plans for the weekend? I plan on doing absolutely nothing for a good part of the day tomorrow. I’m hoping I can sleep in a little bit. That all depends on the little one. He had a big day today, so I’m thinking the chances might be pretty good. Then of course Saturday is The South of the James Market . Such an awesome market. I’ll be there from 8-12. My big sis Melissa will be keeping me company. I’m really looking forward to it.  Ooooh, Greg from Blue Goo Studios will be coming by this weekend too! Super excited for that! Greg is an extremely talented local photographer. His work is amazing! He has so graciously agreed to photograph my caramels. He has some great ideas. I can’t wait! Ok, I’m gonna go drag my butt to bed. Sleep tight you guys. -S
